Support your Sniffles

A cold is simply the body’s way of purging itself of toxins backed up in your lymphatic (sewer) system. There can be a virus, or some bacterium involved but, either way, a cold is a symptom of a lymphatic system that is working to clean itself.

Never stop a cold or flu-like symptom or a fever. These are not diseases, but a natural response by the body to increase the elimination that is vital to getting well. Fevers are one of the greatest tools the body uses to help eliminate through the skin. Increasing the body’s temperature increases sweat, thus increasing the elimination of toxins, and mucus.

Your body is self-cleaning so help support the body during this process by trying some of the following:

  1. Schedule to see your chiropractor. Receiving an adjustment while you are under the weather keeps your nervous system open. When your nervous system is communicating, your body can process and eliminate more comfortably. At CORE, we can also provide body work to promote drainage of your sinuses.

  2. Promote sweat by making sure your skin pores stay open. You can Dry Brush your entire body every day to make sure your skin doesn’t get clogged and maintains the ability to expel sweat.

  3. Take a warm bath. Add 1 cup of Epsom Salt and 1 cup of Baking Soda to the water for mineral support and detox support. You can also put a few drops of your favorite essential oil on the floor of your shower, so the scent billows up with the steam. (Bergamot, Clove, Fennel, Sage)

  4. Eat the rainbow. Vitamin A, B2, and C all help the immune system. While you can purchase supplements of these vitamins, don’t forget that these vitamins exist in nature, and you can eat them as well.

    1. Vitamin A - Tomatoes, carrots, kale, spinach, broccoli, watermelon, apples, avocados, apricots

    2. Vitamin B2 - green vegetables, rice bran, avocados, almonds, brussels sprouts, apples, bananas, carrots, kelp, coconut

    3. Vitamin C - strawberries, blackberries, citrus fruits, bananas, tomatoes, apples, green bell peppers, cherries, potatoes, cabbage, spinach, broccoli, avocados, parsley
